The Happy Valley Film Festival began several years ago with a rented camcorder and a lot of enthusiasm among a creative group of friends and acquaintances in the Penn State/State College community. For several years, the Film Festival was held as a house-party, most recently in the backyard of Erin and Paul Rehrig. As the Festival grew in size, organizers looked for an indoor venue that would accommodate our technology needs. Since 2004, the Film Festival has been held at the Penn State Visitors Center. When renovations of the historic State Theatre in downtown State College are complete, we plan to make that venue our new home.
